- A new kind of learning environment
Design Factory is a 3000 square metre working environment enabling creative work, knowledge sharing and experience exchange. All facilities are designed for flexible use, with free interaction and prototyping made as easy as possible. Spaces can be easily modified and rearranged for various set-ups and different purposes of use. Meanwhile, the overall layout of the Factory encourages open communication and spontaneous encounters.
Design Factory is an open working space for all Aalto University students and professors interested in design and development. You are welcome to pop up and ring the doorbell anytime!
- Hold your event Design Factory!
Our spaces can be reserved for anything from large scale events of over 100 participants to teamwork sessions for small groups. For more information and to reserve spaces, contact the staff.
Design Factory operates on a co-creative do-it-yourself basis. Thus setting up for an event, catering and cleaning up are the responsibility of the event organizer. However, our community members will gladly offer their help to lost ones!
Prototyping
Design Factory provides the tools for various phases of prototyping, from legos and CAD to metal, paint and woodwork. The Factory also houses photography and film facilities that can be reserved by all users.
Lectures and Seminars
Design Factory offers facilities for large scale events, such as lectures, seminars, workshops and exhibitions. The versatile meeting spaces within the Factory also enable dividing a large audience to work in smaller workshops. The spaces can be used by any of the Factory members and reserved by contacting the staff.
Teamwork
Design Factory houses both formal and informal space for team activities, such as brainstorming, team building and meetings.
